I am a Political Scientist and Sociologist by training and hold a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence. I currently work as a Professor of Islam in Europe at the Institute of Islamic Studies at FU Berlin. My research, teaching and writing focuses on Islam and Muslims in European public spheres, politics of knowledge production and epistemic frameworks and on questions related to body politics. I investigate these research areas mainly from a critical secular studies and critical theory lens.
