I am professor of Transregional Central Asian Studies with focus on Islam and migration at the Institute for Asian and African Studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. A disciplinary background in Central Asian Studies and sociocultural anthropology; my research interests cover the anthropology of transregional Islam, religion and mobility in Asia and the MENA region. From 2010 to 2020 I was Junior Professor for Islam in Asian and African Societies at the Institute for Asian and African Studies at HU Berlin.
